The "Tripartite"
Organized dentistry has membership benefits at three levels:
- the national level — the American Dental Association;
- the state level — the Oregon Dental Association;
- and the local level — your component society.
As an Oregon-licensed dentist, when you join the ODA, you also join your local dental society and the American Dental Association —and a tradition that dates to the founding of the ODA in 1893. “Tripartite” describes the organizational tiers collectively. Each level within the tripartite sets its own dues, selects its own officers and board members, and makes decisions on the services and benefits it offers to members.
